Hydrangea

“Hydrangea” is a set of two paintings I made of hydrangeas. I used acrylic paint on canvases to make these. For the first (left) I stated with a yellow and brown background. I did this so that it would contrast with the blue flowers. I then added leaves and the darkest shade of blue. The I added a lighter shade of blue, then an eve lighter shade of blue. With that blue I made the flowers more of an accurate shape with a white center. I then added spots of the blues around the painting to make it look more abstract. I did a similar process with the second (the right). But this time I used a dark blue background because I thought it would look best with the purple and pink. I chose to make this one purple and pink because hydrangeas can be that color and I thought they would look great together.
